Sunscreen is the Enemy of Wrinkles

Wrinkles
Yes, it is another plastic surgery post about wrinkles, but this time we’re going to focus on one of the most cost effective ways to reduce wrinkles! Do I have your attention yet? I thought so.
It’s another beautiful day in sunny Los Angeles where you will find the rich, the famous, models, actors, and um, yes, a plastic surgeon or two talking about skin! Which reminds me, it’s sunny here, and you care about your appearance. So, wear sunscreen everyday with a SPF (sun protection factor) of at least 30.
Sun exposure causes not only wrinkles, but ugly brown spots (hyperpigmentation). Sure, both wrinkles and brown spots can be treated by your favorite doctor, but I reckon that a bottle of sunscreen is much less expensive! Sunscreen is the worst enemy of a dermatologist or plastic surgeon. Why? It is a product that actually works by reducing the acceleration process of aging from dreaded sun exposure. And if you’re all looking perfect how would I be able to afford a meal?
SPF comes in many numbers. For all intents and purposes, consider any number LESS than 30 to be a waste of money. When it comes to sunscreen, SPF of 30 or GREATER is really the gold standard. At the other end of the spectrum, anything OVER 55 is probably not a whole lot better than 55. So don’t be fooled by the SPF of 95 that cost twice as much. It ISN’T twice as good! Ideally, sunscreen should be applied every day, even if it’s cloudy. The harmful radiation of the sun can and will penetrate clouds – and your t-shirt or bathing suit – and hit your precious skin. Next thing you know, you’ll be searching for your plastic surgeon for Botox before your 30th birthday. While Botox works well, per dollar I’d argue sunscreen is much, much more effective! Save your money. And save your wrinkles!
